TV’s Greatest Restaurants – A Handy Guide

Breadsticks Lima, OH This restaurant’s claim to fame is right there in the title, but we find it somewhat disappointing that they are shipped in from the Dominican Republic.  Their endless salad bowl is very satisfying, and the spaghetti and meatballs is a perfect dish if you want to re-create Lady & The Tramp. Their menu is versatile, down home Italian cuisine and can be enjoyed on a romantic date or as one, big happy family. Score: Three stars (Glee)

Ernie’s Crab Shack

Camden County

From the outside, this looks like it could be a great undiscovered treasure, but once inside, you’ll realize it’s undiscovered for a reason.  It’s dirty, the clientele runs the gamut from “mildly deranged” to “actively hostile”, and the food is lackluster at best, not actually food at worst.  If you happen to come in on a day when they actually have fresh crab in the restaurant, it’s surprisingly tasty.  But if you show up on the wrong day, it’s not unheard of to get food missing a bite or two or garnished with what appear to be tiny pieces of drywall.  Food poisoning is a distinct possibility, being assaulted by another diner for sitting at the wrong table is even more likely.  Not worth the risk, even if it is one of those rare days when they’re serving the good crab.

Score:  One Star

(My Name is Earl) Luke’s Diner Stars Hollow, CT This charming town offers a few quaint meal options, but no location offers better views of the Town Square or a more delicious cup of coffee than Luke’s.  The proprietor can be less than friendly, but his specialties ranging from breakfast fare to burgers and pies, will keep you coming back whenever you’re in the area.  Sure, you could go to Al’s Pancake World, but they don’t actually have pancakes.  And Weston’s has decent baked goods, but the coffee is so-so.  So, we suggest Luke’s for some good comfort food and magnificent people watching. Score: Three stars (Gilmore Girls)

  1. I don’t think you missed a single TV restaurant, save for the mess hall on M*A*S*H*, maybe. Of course, it’s hard to believe TWO places on Gilmore Girls made the cut and the diner from Alice and The Peach Pit did not.

I would do anything for a heaping plate of passive aggressiveness and unspoken sentiments from The Peach Pit.
