I love that variety shows, disguised as talent competitions, made a huge comeback in the form of Dancing With the Stars and American Idol. There was nothing like the cheesy goodness of Donny & Marie, Sha-Na-Na and Sonny & Cher in their time. Now if someone could just bring back Solid Gold in some form or fashion, my life might be complete. There are so many networks and so much to see that I have to wonder how anyone lives without a DVR. I know I couldn’t do it. Really, if you asked me to pick between any household convenience like, let’s say, heat, and my DVR, it would be like Sophie’s Choice for me. I know that sounds extreme and pathetic, but I don’t care. And the way the DVD market has exploded to go beyond movies to include most current TV shows as well as a cross-section of the classics? Fabulous.
