I have no real excuse for loving this movie. I know damn well the “science” and “logic” Michael Bay and company want to push on us here are complete crap. It makes zero sense that NASA would allow these oil drillers, geniuses though some may actually be, to fly this mission up to drill a hole in asteroid so they could stop it from destroying earth. Why not just have Harry Stamper (Bruce Willis) and his motley crew train the astronauts in the fine art of drilling and send up an experienced team? Surely they could have learned more about that in the time allotted before the mission than the undertaking it was to school all the roughnecks in how to be astronauts?
