Per Don Jr., the execs liked ASAP’s brand integration and the koala, but thought the display wasn’t engaging. Ivanka says they loved Backbone’s interaction and use of the product. They also loved the chant, but not the pirate theme. They missed the koala, and they didn’t like the way Busey tried to pitch himself as a spokesman for the brand. And to me, that should be the end there. If the executives specifically say that a particular team member behaved inappropriately, that’s the guy who should be catching the next cab back home.
Trump reveals that though they liked both teams, ASAP won. They totally won on the use of the koala, and the fact that none of their team members abducted the executives for a forced pitch meeting. And that last one is actually a really good reason to pick one team over the other when you get down to it. I really think this isn’t a case where ASAP won so much as Backbone lost.
