LaToya is wearing the creepiest damn lion mask you’ll ever see. It’s like if Julie Taymor produced a musical version of Eyes Wide Shut. Lisa reads the book aloud, Marlee signs, and ASAP acts it out. It’s pretty hilarious that Dionne plays LaToya’s mother and “when she roared, everyone in the Jackson family listened”. Because if there’s one thing the Jacksons were known for, it was the powerful maternal presence in their lives. By the way, the rest of the animal cast includes a kitten, a dog, a duck, a cow, a rooster, and Niki Taylor as a bee. Who would not in any way be going to the same class as birds and mammals. How would they even be able to hear the bee’s tiny voice? (You’re really overthinking this just a tad.–Myndi) That’s a more interesting story than this lion thing! Star’s idea of barking makes me think that she’s never seen a real dog in her life. (Yes, I know we saw her dog last week. I’m disregarding continuity here!) NeNe is over the top as the rooster. Yes, the script calls her a chicken, but that’s totally a rooster mask. I don’t want to spoil the ending, but LaToya roars.
