At the first planning session, Meat Loaf says that he wants everybody in the story to be an animal, and the story has to have a moral. Mark McGrath explains the task again, only in a much twitchier way than it was previously explained. Alarmingly, Meat Loaf thinks Mark and John are the obvious choices as writers, which makes me wonder if he’s ever heard any of their songs. He picks Lil Jon as the lead, which actually isn’t a bad choice, considering what he has to work with. As far as public persona goes, he’s kind of a blank slate, and he looks exactly like a Muppet. (Specifically, Clifford from Muppets Tonight.) Mark immediately comes up with Lil Jon as a superhero, and with his metal teeth, that’s not bad. Like a Crunk version of Matter-Eater Lad. Mark also talks about the catchphrases by which America knows Lil Jon. Which, first off, no we don’t. Second, he indicates there are three catchprases and then says “Yeah” and “OK”. Not catchphrases, and also, only two. And how lame is “OK” as a catchphrase? Mark McGrath is the dumber Brett Michaels, only without the charisma.
