Tom announces that the first of tonight’s scored rounds will have each of the remaining couples performing their favorite routines for the judges, who will rank the three dances, giving out 30, 28 and 26 points. After last night’s scores and viewer votes are factored in, the couple in third place will be eliminated before the final round. Nicole and Derek are first, with their Argentine tango. It is precise, dramatic and seemingly error free. The lengthy spin at the end is amazing. I have to say, however, that the red spats on Derek’s shoes are distracting. What are the point of spats, anyway? Len feels it had passion and artistry. Bruno feels the need to shout about how rich and luscious the dance was, like an old man who left his hearing aides on the dresser. Carrie Ann calls them “artistry in motion”.
