7. Apolo Ohno & Julianne Hough’s Freestyle (Season 4) I had actually forgotten this one.
6. Joanna Krupa & Derek Hough’s “futuristic” Paso Doble (Season 9) I never really loved Joanna, but this was a great dance. We learn that when Joanna got ahead of the music, Derek mirrored her movements to stay in sync. And I guess that right there is why you can’t really deny the power of Derek.
5. Mel B. & Maks Chmerkovskiy’s Paso Doble (Season 5) Ah, Mel B., the person who should have won season 5. And, like Helio, I always remember not only this dance, but also the fact that it was danced to “Free Your Mind”. Fun fact: These two often spend Thanksgiving together!
