Dancing With The Stars

Dancing With the Stars–Season 11, The Finals Part 1

Their freestyle is to “Tootsie Roll” (29) and it’s basically a series of fun breakdancing moves with costuming straight out of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Len jokes that the song is one of his favorites. He calls the dancing “boogaloo”, but says he loved it. Bruno says Kyle was in his element. Carrie Ann drops her fly girl status and says he’s the Fresh Prince of the Ballroom. Kyle is crazy winded backstage with Brooke.

TOTAL: 56/60

Bristol & Mark got the pleasure of having Bruno in his tight pants and gold chain come in to advise her on, basically, letting loose and selling her jive (27). There’s zero talk of steps or technique. The results? Well, I’ll say this: finally, the girl has some expression on her face! She seems to at long last be enjoying her experience and selling the performance aspect. But her actual skills are fair to middling…she’s unable to do any of the tricks better jives would feature and her kicks and flicks are sort of half-hearted, as they were in the Argentine tango. Mark is a master at masking his partner’s weak spots and he throws in a lot of gimmicks to make the routine fun and engaging despite its lack of real polish. Mama loved it. Bruno said they enjoyed it, but has no real dance critique. Carrie Ann gushes, as does Len, both playing up the whole improvement angle they need to push if she ends up winning. There’s no way that routine was at the same level as Kyle’s.
