Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff (22/30) – They dominated the first two weeks, but last week they were in third place. I think Ralph’s eyebrows are drawn on with charcoal. They’re dancing a Samba to “Sweet Home Alabama”, because what’s more American than stirring pro-segregation anthems? Ralph is baffled by cowboy hats, but is surprisingly good at hula-hooping.
They are dressed like cowboys, and I hate this song so much that I’m having a hard time watching the dance. Ralph’s famous spatula hands are back, and while the choreography is pretty tricky, it doesn’t look like a Samba, and there are times when he lags behind Karina. I feel like it’s getting away from him a little.
