Melissa & Mark (28/30) are doing the Charleston, and it’s his first time dancing this style, as well as hers. They go to a Twenties club of some kind in L.A. to get in the mood. Well, either they went at two in the afternoon, or this place is just not a very swingin‘ joint, because nobody else is there! Also, Melissa’s hair is a mess and her bra strap keeps falling down, so I’m guessing she’s gotten into the character of “prohibition-era floozy.” (Yeah, a character. That’s the ticket. – EJ) Their routine starts in black and white and Mark is dressed like Groucho Marx all the way, right down to the spats. Joey (or is it Joseph?) Lawrence is there to cheer her on. Bruno, Carrie and Len all love it. And I have to agree, she sold it and nailed every move. This dance really lends itself to performing and, as Melissa says, let her be “silly”. Bruno scores it a 10, and Melissa is giddy.
