Shawn and Mark and Melissa and Tony are asked to come centerstage. Tom tries to sound gloomy announcing Melissa and Tony’s fate, but of course both of these couples are coming back. Backstage, Sam interviews Kim and LT. Derek just asks Kim not to make him wear her pasties.
Apparently, it’s imperative that we know that one of the original Pussycat Dolls choreographed the Macy’s Stars of Dance performance, which features that refined young woman, Carmen Electra. (I love the way they keep stressing “original”, like they have a long and distinguished history. -EJ) The dance is burlesque-y (shocker!) and song is “Stuff Like That There”, which I will only ever want to hear Kelly Clarkson sing after she slayed it on the first season of Idol (What is it with me and the Idol references tonight?). Carmen does about a quarter of the actual dancing as compared to all of the others, but she gets lifted a lot and works a chair, as well as (shudder) Len. For some reason, there’s a section involving hula hooping, which, what? Overall, it’s tamer than I might have thought it would be, but they could have spent Carmen’s fee on something else, like maybe more hula hoops. They are fun for the whole family, after all.
