A&E’s “Breakout Kings” — A Pre-Review

Malcolm Goodwin’s Shea is the only other con to appear in both screened episodes.  He’s a street hustler who’s probably the most well-adjusted character on the show so far.  The Kings seem to have a pretty high fallout rate – one of the initial batch washes out before the halfway point of the first episode, and Philly (Nicole Steinwedell) is gone by the third episode, replace by Serinda Swan’s Erica.  Swan is surprisingly good, considering that her most notable acting work to this point is Zatanna in Smallville, a role that requires her to wear fishnets and be attractive.  Here, she’s a convincing badass.  Still, I really missed Philly.  I hope whatever happens in the second episode leaves the door open for her return.
