LOST Revisited: 6-4 “The Substitute” (Feb 17)

Back on the Island, Sawyer tells Look-a-Locke about his favorite book, Of Mice and Men. Specifically, the bit where George takes Lennie out and shoots him. And though he doesn’t mention it, do you know what Lennie’s dream was? To be able to tend the rabbits. Another one of those oft-referenced motifs. This is all just a prelude to Sawyer pulling a gun on him. The Lockelganger tells Sawyer that he can shoot, and they’ll see what happens. He further says that he used to be a man, but he’s been trapped here for so long. (Also note that he calls Of Mice and Men “after my time”.) Sawyer is intrigued enough not to shoot him, at least.
