LOST Revisited: 6-4 “The Substitute” (Feb 17)
Benry delivers a eulogy which I quoted at the top, and they bury Locke. It’s hard not to shed a tear here. And here’s what really bothers me. We don’t really know what the Island can do. Benry said he’s never seen a straight-up resurrection, for example. However, we’ve see people who should be dead come back. Charlie was hung by Ethan and came back. Mikhail suffered about five major injuries. And the jury is still out on Christian. However, nobody who’s been buried has come back. Once they’re in the ground, that’s the end. And in this scene, they bury Locke. I still want to believe that his story is over, but on Lost, nothing’s more final than a burial.
