LOST Revisited: 6-4 “The Substitute” (Feb 17)

In Timeline X, Locke tries to call Jack and chickens out. At that point, a delivery man from Oceanic Air shows up with Locke’s lost luggage. So he admits his lies to Helen. He lied about the conference, he didn’t tell her he got fired. And he doesn’t believe for one moment that he can be fixed. It would take a miracle for him to walk again, and “There is no such thing.” And for a moment, I’m absolutely wrecked. I’m afraid that Locke X is going to throw his happiness away. And to hear the man of faith just give up like that, it isn’t easy. But Helen doesn’t care – he’s the only miracle she needs. It is a sweet and lovely scene, and I am tearing up here.
