Dogen gets the upper hand, and it looks like he’s ready to kill Sayid, until he notices the baseball that we’ve seen him play with previously. That snaps him out of it – he releases Sayid but orders him to leave forever.

It’s very ominous, when she asks “Are you going to hurt them?” and his answer is “Only the ones who don’t listen”. You can already tell this is not going to end well.
