That seems to be borne out by the fact that nobody expects to be able to see him. Benry tries to act like he saw and heard something when he first takes Locke to Jacob’s cabin. That’s not something you do with a person who has a physical body. But then, Dogen was surprised to hear that Jacob was dead. It’s clear that the Temple Dwellers know more than the suburban Others, though. Aside from Benry, the Others who live in the Dharma houses never even really mention Jacob. They really are very different groups. Hard to imagine Dogen or Lennon riding the Dharma bike or going to a book club meeting, isn’t it?
