LOST Revisited, Season 5, Episode 3: “Jughead” (Jan 29)

In this episode, we got some big answers, and also a possible explanation for a bunch of sticking points from previous seasons.

Before we get into this week’s episode, it’s time to hand out the bonus points. Amy suggested that the “Event Window” that White Oracle mentioned at the end of last week’s episode is a timeframe when the Island will exist in the present, so that Benry and the Oceanic Six can actually get to the Island. This makes perfect sense, and it also would indicate something mind-blowing. Rather than the Lostaways skipping through time, the Island itself is actually moving through time. Meaning that in 2008, the Island won’t exist until that Event Window opens. The Island itself is a giant time machine. And the multiple symbols on the giant map indicate that the Island is moving through space as well as time. Is your mind blown yet?

Mysterious Don reminded me that a compass was one of the items that Richard “Batmanuel” Alpert set out for Locke to choose from as a child. And checking the DVD’s, I can confirm that the compass he handed off last week was the very same one. I guess we know which would have been the right item to choose, eh?
