LOST Revisited: The Post-Mortem, Part 1
Was everything answered? No. But I’m not sure it needed to be. We had six seasons of mysteries, some of which lost any importance in the narrative before they were ever answered. Are some of the omissions frustrating? Sure. There are things I would love to know. But the only reason we care about whether it was Walt or Vincent who stopped the rain, or why Sayid’s passport said “Iran”, or why Richard thought the Lostaways died in 1977 is because we care about the characters. If it’s nothing but the logic puzzles, it’s just an empty exercise. Would it have been satisfying to see them deal with some of the inconsistencies in the Black Rock? Absolutely. But if I have to choose between exposition and seeing Richard’s spectral reunion with his wife, that’s going to be an easy choice.
