That’s TV. Look at something like The Venture Bros., which I think has the most impressive continuity on TV (and has been written by the same two guys all along) – even it has burps. Remember how Baron Underbheit used to be Doc’s Guild-sanctioned archenemy? They just decided that the Monarch was funnier and Underbheit got phased out of the show altogether. You’re never going to have a TV series that lasts for any length of time that is entirely free of lost plot threads or unresolved storylines.
