By the way, when Hurley closes his eyes and counts to five, that’s a callback to Jack’s advice to Kate in the very first episode. I don’t think Jack ever mentioned it to Hurley, but if you tell Kate something, it’s all over the island by nightfall.
The climactic island scene was another really good one. I especially liked the revelation that Locke’s gun wasn’t loaded. Despite everything, Locke wouldn’t point a loaded gun at Jack – Jack is his friend. That would be crazy. Of course, Jack didn’t know the gun wasn’t loaded when he pulled the trigger. I was legitimates surprised that he’d go that far, though. When they arrived on the island, Jack could hardly bring himself to put a dying man out of his misery. Now, he’ll pull the trigger if you disagree with him.
