The All-Pilot Project

Community, Modern Family, and Cougar Town

Review week continues, and this time the All-Pilot Project is looking at three sitcoms. Did they leave us laughing? Find out here!
Community
NBC, Thursday 8 PM
The Premise: A successful lawyer has to go back to community college when it’s discovered that he faked his law degree. Yes, it’s one of those premises that could never actually happen in real life, like Norm MacDonald being sentenced to be a social worker.
The Personnel: Created by Dan Harmon, who co-created The Sarah Silverman Program and I believe he worked with Rob Schrab on some Scud: The Disposable Assassin projects. Joel McHale (The Soup) plays Jeff, the aforementioned lawyer. The cast also includes Chevy Chase, Alison Brie (Pete’s wife on Mad Men), and guest-teachers Ken Jeong (The Hangover), John Oliver (The Daily Show), and John Michael Higgins (Arrested Development, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law). Jon and Anthony Russo, who directed many, many episodes of Arrested Development are producers and directors here.
