Best TV Shows on TV – TV’s Moments of Joy “Just the Beef and the Crows”

30 Rock – OK, last week we said it was the 100th episode of 30 Rock, but in our defense, we usually write this very late at night.  This week was actually the big 100, and it was based around the 100th episode of TGS.  The special one-hour episode played around with 30 Rock history and brought in some great callbacks.  The Beeper King returned, and Rachel Dratch showed up in two of her old roles.  (Remember in the first season when she played a different character on every episode?)  Danny appeared after a long absence (and with his return to Glee this week, that makes two shows that suddenly remembered Cheyenne Jackson is a cast member), and in a really funny and weird joke, discovered that he now had all of Josh’s memories, allowing him to reminisce about the earliest days of TGS.  Jenna suffered a hysterical pregnancy (And hey, congratulations to Jane Krakowski, who had a baby boy on Thursday.  Way to promote the show!)  The whole episode was built around the impending cancellation of TGS and a gas leak in the building that made everyone a little crazy.  But really, it was a master class in 30 Rock trivia.  Jack referring to Liz as his manatee, Liz identifying the “recurring hobos”, Liz taking Tracy to the strip club from the pilot, the multiple Jack Donaghys using the “It’s after 6:30.  What am I, a farmer?” quote in unison… it was a great way to celebrate 100 episodes.  All this, and some hilarious self-parody from Alec Baldwin and a Tom Hanks cameo.  Plus, we learned exactly how old Kenneth is.  Thanks 30 Rock – one of the best shows on TV for 100 episodes, and we’re hoping for a hundred more.  At least.
