So how exactly do you wrap up a storyline that hinges on a character played by a beloved actor who announced his retirement last year? Animation, that’s how! Yes, once Walter and Peter found Bell, the show switched over to some really nice animation. (I think it was rotoscoped, which usually makes me angry but was used really effectively here.) Everything about the animated scenes was awesome, right down to their knowledge that they were, in fact, appearing as cartoons. It meant the Fringe crew got to ride in a zeppelin, and it introduced the guy who looks to be the next major threat. Peter encountered him, but only as a cartoon – we don’t know who this guy in the real world. Is he just a loose memory? Is he somebody who also got into Olivia’s mind? Or something else entirely?
