Mad Men Round Table: Season 3 – “Seven Twenty Three”

Don Draper, more or less, hasn’t signed a non-compete clause in any aspect of his life. His dark past keeps coming back to haunt him, whether he likes it or not. And occasionally he’ll visit his past in California. And sometimes his past will pop into his drug-induced or sleep-deprived daydreams. And once his past came and visited him, but he sent his past away, and his past hung himself (past = stepbrother). What did Don say there at the end to “Betts“?

“No contract means I have all the power. They want me. But they can’t have me.”

And then Betty delivers the most devastating comment any one’s ever landed on Don.
