After their trip to the Central Park Zoo, Sally is on cloud nine as she and Don enter the office hand in hand. It’s adorable, of course. But reality sets in when Megan explains that Mrs. Francis will be there at 5:00. When Sally starts to resist, Don recruits Faye to talk to her, which it quickly becomes obvious is a big mistake. Sally turns on her in a nasty way and Don tries to forcibly yank her up and out to reception. Pretty soon, she’s caused a scene and when she tries to make a break for it, trips and falls. It’s sort of jarring to see Joan, Peggy and Faye all watch helplessly as sweet, well-meaning Megan unwittingly saves the day and comforts poor Sally. Why Megan? Well, she clearly has the maternal instinct that the other three women don’t seem to come by very easily. I feel like this might be the one time all season that the previews have indicated anything real, as we see Don confronting Megan about something business-related next week. After being a small but integral piece of both major stories this week, Megan looks like she might play a more significant role as we head toward the finale.
