Mad Men Roundtable – “Blowing Smoke”

I’m as surprised as anyone that her interactions with Glenn are largely innocent. They’re not misbehaving (except for the cigarette he offers her, I guess) and he’s not a creep (except for offering her his backwash–yuck!) They’re normal pre-teens. They’re both trying to flirt, and failing miserably at it. I loved when Sally ended one visit with a cute little shoulder shrug and “I’ll save my Fritos for you.” Glenn is spot on, however in his observation that Betty doesn’t like kids. It’s like he was looking in the window in the dinner scene that opened the show, when Betty basically ignored baby Gene and told Bobby he was filthy. Major ice queen.
