Mad Men Roundtable – “Hands and Knees”

Roger and Joan had to grapple with what many viewers seemed to see coming; Joan was late. And after very little discussion, it was decided that the only real choice they had was to “take care of it.” Given Joan’s struggles to get pregnant with Greg, this was heartbreaking, even if it was one of the only predictable things this show has ever done. Then again, after Joan’s encounter with the mother of a teen getting an abortion in the waiting room before her procedure, we don’t know for sure that Joan really did abort her baby. But for now, Roger had something else to worry about. In a development that was also just a matter of time, Lee Garner Jr. announced that Lucky Strike was leaving the agency, as all the brands owned by the company were being consolidated at BBDO. Roger begged, abandoning his usual cool, saying he needed 30 days to get things in order. This loss could break our beloved SCDP. But does it mean we might somehow get to see Sal again?!
