Mad Men Roundtable – “The Summer Man”
Now, this is the part that just burns me. Henry calls Don to complain that he needs to get his stuff out of the garage. And for some reason, Don does not point out that it’s his damned garage. Seriously, they are still living in Don’s house, long after he wanted them out. And Henry somehow gets to make demands as to what Don can have in the garage? It’s such an a-hole move, and it’s so petty and impotent. I am shocked that Don doesn’t absolutely shut him down, actually. Come on Don, make him cry!
I just rewatched this episode during its rerun on AMC Sunday mornings – the first time I saw it, I noted that it was the first time “Mad Men” ended with the credits rolling but no music playing over them. I wondered if there was something particular in the episode that made it special (like the silent clock in “24”). However, I wasn’t certain, so I’d be interested in hearing what you or other readers have to say about the matter.
