Mad Men Roundtable – “The Summer Man”
Over at the Draper/Francis house, one of our favorites is back as Francine Miller (aka Cutthroat Bitch from House) stops by. Love her. And it’s a nice reminder that even though Betty is the one who snapped last night, she’s the one who has a friend that she can confide in. There’s nobody Don can talk to about seeing Betty at dinner, but Betty can call Francine. I also like Betty’s assertion that Don doesn’t get to be happy and have his family. Hee. That’s such weird logic from her.
I just rewatched this episode during its rerun on AMC Sunday mornings – the first time I saw it, I noted that it was the first time “Mad Men” ended with the credits rolling but no music playing over them. I wondered if there was something particular in the episode that made it special (like the silent clock in “24”). However, I wasn’t certain, so I’d be interested in hearing what you or other readers have to say about the matter.
