The Best TV Shows on TV – TV’s Moments of Joy “Operation: Troy is Awesome”

Community – This week’s season finale wrapped up the paintball war from last week.  If you’ll recall, Part One was awesome.  A western-themed school picnic sponsored by an ice cream company turned into a battle for $100,000.  Part One ended with a malevolent ice cream cone commanding a squad of paintball warriors who looked alarmingly like the Imperial Biker Scouts from Return of the Jedi.  Sure enough, in Part Two, the parody moved from Sam Peckinpah to George Lucas.  Naturally, Abed wanted to be Han Solo, even taking StarBurns’ trademark vest to complete the look.  Watching him win Annie over with his “loveable rogue” persona was a hoot.  Probably spunkybuddy Larry Young is more qualified to spot all the references, but we caught a whole mess of homages to the original trilogy, including paintball warrior dialogue that came straight from the Endor battle scenes.
