The second episode, entitled “Road Trip”, had Leslie and Ben driving to Indianapolis to pitch Pawnee as the site of a
kids’ softball tournament. (and in the B plot, where Tom forced the rest of the staff to play his version of The Newlywed Game, called Know Ya’ Boo, we found out that there may or may not be a TV network called Slurp HD and that it runs a show called “Ultimate Battle Smoothie”. We’re intrigued.) Leslie begged Ann for help in staying focused on work while traveling with Ben, so the girls made a playlist that consisted of a Jimmy Carter speech, learning Mandarin and some epic banjo music. (Leslie: “It’s an amazing instrument, the banjo.” Ben: “Yeah, I didn’t realize it could be this loud.”) But, high on their successful pitch and two and a half glasses of red wine, Leslie was about to make out with Ben, until Chris showed up to harsh everyone’s buzz. Happily, with Chris away from the office the next day, our two favorite local government workers finally kissed passionately, which Leslie followed with an adorable, “Uh-oh”. Watching them deal with Chris is going to be fun, and we’re so excited for these lovable dorks to have found each other.
