The Best TV Shows on TV – TV’s Moments of Joy “Operation: Troy is Awesome”

Fringe – So, are you ready for a mind-blowing season finale?  Last week, Peter tried to save our universe by entering a mysterious machine that, as spunkybuddy Sam pointed out, looks exactly like the device that gave Phantom Limb his powers on Venture Bros.  (And if that was intentional, our minds are blown.)  Last week’s episode ended with a look at the future, and the finale expanded on that.  And while the look at the future indicated that our universe is the one that survives, we learned that the other universe’s Walter (Walternate) is alive and well.  In the finale, he engineered the death of Olivia (who in 2026, is married to Peter), leading to a pretty awesome Viking funeral (a funeral that was no less traumatic for the viewers for being set fifteen years in Olivia’s future).  Our Walter and Peter worked out a way to fix everything, requiring them to send Peter’s consciousness back to the present day.  Future Peter (and if this is making your head spin, spunkybuddy Larry Young can break it down for you) created a bridge between the two universes, where the Walters and Olivias could work together and save both worlds.  But with that task accomplished, Peter blinked out of existence.  And we learned from the crowd of Observers (and how creepy is it whenever a bunch of them gather?) that Peter served his purpose and erased himself from history – Peter Bishop never existed.  What that means for next season, we can’t even guess.  But seriously, “Peter never existed” is on par with “He wants us to move the Island” for incredible endings.  If you didn’t get into Fringe at first, catch up on Seasons Two and Three over the break, because they are not messing around.
