Modern Family–Probably one of the best episodes in the show’s short history. Phil and Claire switched up their usual routine, with Phil playing bad cop to get the girls to clean their bathroom while Claire got to have “fun” with Luke and Manny. The results were both hilarious and disturbing. Claire fed Luke so much junk food he puked (“I’m 12. I need limits!”) and Phil threw himself on the hood of the car to stop Alex and Haley from getting away without doing as he asked. The scene where he forced Haley to pull all the hair out the drain, chided her for being grossed out, and then proceeded to gag in the hallway, was classic. Best exchange had to be this: Phil: “I don’t like being you.” Claire: “No one does.” We learned that Gloria likes to pick up strays, as Jay calls them, and the latest one (played by Broadway vet Lin-Manuel Miranda, star of the best wedding video ever made, incidentally) ends up leaving a dog behind that Jay falls in love with in spite of himself. And Mitchell and Cam’s story was one that everyone’s experienced once or twice. You have plans with your significant other (or the kids) to do something awesome and they get sick. Do you help care for them or do you go without them? If you’re Mitchell, you dose your man with cough syrup until he passes out and sneak away. Too bad he forgot to take off the glow necklace he got at the Lady Gaga show.
Awesome! Two shout-outs in one column! WINNING!
