The Best TV Shows on TV – TV’s Moments of Joy “Operation: Troy is Awesome”

The Killing – AMC’s newest series still continues to be excellent and incredibly depressing.  As Sarah Linden has put her life on hold to solve her last case in Seattle, the murder of high school student Rosie Larsen, she seems to find more suspects every day.  And even the people who aren’t guilty have something to hide.  This episode had Rosie’s father (who we’ve learned used to be a bagman for the Polish mob) confronting a suspect – Rosie’s teacher Bennett Ahmed.  Stanley Larsen drove Bennett out to a private location, and it was clear that he intended to kill him – it was a riveting sequence, with Bennett’s fear and confusion growing all the time.  Stanley didn’t hurt him, probably realizing that there isn’t any substantial evidence against him, but we’re left to wonder what changed Stanley’s mind and whether any of the accusations against Bennett (ranging from inappropriate conduct with students to murder) have any ground.  Meanwhile, Holder (Sarah’s new partner and upcoming replacement) is getting stranger and stranger – something’s not right about him.  The episode ends with Linden and Holder being attacked by a security team after discovering… something.  The Killing showcases masterful acting and writing every week, and it’s our new dramatic obsession.
