30 Rock – This episode brought us the accidental wedding of Jack and Liz, which was awesome. We also had the return of Dr. Spaceman, now dating Squeaky Fromme, and Danny and Jenna as a dysfunctional family. But the real standout this week was Sherri Shepherd as Angie Jordan – she decided to work in entertainment, because that’s a field where untalented people can make millions of dollars. The tag at the end of the episode was the opening to her reality show, Queen of Jordan. (On Bravo, of course.) We would totally watch that show.
Bob’s Burgers – This is rapidly becoming one of our favorites. The second episode featured the most overused comedy plot ever (Oh no! The in-laws are coming for a visit!), but it had a whole new approach. Bob discovers a crawlspace in his house and takes up residence inside the walls. Sure, he gets to avoid Linda’s parents, but he also eventually goes insane and reenacts scenes from The Shining with his nightlight. After the restaurant-heavy premiere, it was good to have an episode that took place largely inside the home (which, granted, is above the restaurant). Oldest daughter Tina had some really good scenes, as we learned that her fear of zombies is combining with her teenage hormones and making for some very strange dreams. A very funny episode that brought some new twists to sitcom staples, and gave us Gene’s classic line “Well, I’ve got a room to re-fart”.
