Batman: The Brave and the Bold – This was a strange episode. While the episode proper gave us the first animated appearance of Black Mask and a whole mess of Batman robots. But they couldn’t top the cold open. The pre-credits sequence had Batman storming the beaches of Normandy on D-Day alongside Sgt. Rock. Why is Batman in World War II? We don’t know. Doesn’t matter. Then G.I. Robot showed up. Yes, he is a robot who is also an infantry soldier. Yes, that’s exactly as weird as it sounds. Again, there was no context for this whatsoever, but Batman and a robot punched Nazis. If you look up “awesome” in the dictionary, that’s the picture you’ll see.
Love the Jon Hamm video. LOVE IT.
