Melissa & Joey–This is not the world’s most hilarious sitcom, but it’s hard to deny the chemistry between Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence. Sure, she’s kind of annoying, but they make it work. And this week had them competing in Dancing With the Stars…of Toledo, so how can we resist? We got a guest appearance by Melissa’s former partner, Mark Ballas, which was definitely not as awesome as if Edyta, Joey’s former partner, had been in the house, but we always enjoy a DWTS shout-out!
TV’s Moments of Joy: Now with More Hiking Paper
Batman: The Brave and the Bold – Well, this was totally unexpected. As we’ve mentioned before, Batman’s current animated iteration is aimed at a younger audience, though it is usually a ridiculous amount of fun for the rest of us. This week wrapped up the two-parter that we mentioned last week, and it was packed with cameos from just about every hero who’s ever appeared on the series. But what was really shocking was that this episode actually involved the death of one of Batman’s allies, the usually-played-for-laughs B’wana Beast. An obscure character with goofy powers, B’wana sacrificed himself to save the world, and it was done in such a cool way – there wasn’t a big speech or manufactured pathos. He knew what he had to do, and he did it. It was very well-done and tastefully handled. And totally unexpected. We may have teared up a little, but we’re certainly not going to admit to it.
