Modern Family–This was pretty close to a Very Special Episode of Modern Family, although we know by now that our favorite extended clan won’t ever get too serious on us. Jay and Gloria were checking out available spots in a crypt (which Gloria called “drawers”) and confronting their age difference. Phil was at the spa (couldn’t let those gift certificates he bought at a charity event go to waste!) and learning how to be a good listener to Claire, while Mitch and Cam were dealing with how to plan ahead for when they tell Lily she’s adopted. The first step is apparently to take the stigma out of the word in all its forms and clap when you say it. We found that Cam was so nervous before they went to get Lily that Mitch was afraid he might bolt, and so left Cam’s last name as Lily’s middle name on the birth certificate, rather than as a hyphenate of his own. You can imagine how happy the normally stoic and controlled Cam was about that one! The best shot had to be at the end of the show, when a frazzled Claire was comforted by an enlighted Phil. Of course, he was also fresh from his day of beauty, and his wife didn’t even notice. You people are all the same! Why do I bother?!
