The Best Shows on TV

TV’s Moments of Joy: The Cone of Trust

How I Met Your Mother–It was another Robin Sparkles episode!  This time, Barney managed to unearth a video of Robin Sparkles’ kids show called “Space Teens”.  The guys are convinced it’s some sort of Canadian porn, what with the suggestive beaver mascots, Robin sliding down a firepole, a sexy keytarist named Jessica Glitter (Nicole Sherzinger) who does the splits, and lots of jumping up and down.  Oh, and the presence of Alan Thicke in hologram form.  Turns out Jessica was Robin’s BFF before she had a baby and she drifted away, which Robin is worried might happen with Lily once she and Marshall have kids.  A good outing for an old favorite that’s been getting back to awesome lately. The Office – Well, we did not see this one coming.  There’s a new love interest for Angela on the show, and he is played by none other than Heroes’ Jack Coleman.  Not only is this a promising plot development, but we are thrilled to see Noah Bennet back on TV.  Even when Heroes was distinctly cruddy, he was always great, and this seems like a good role for him.  It’s a promising plotline, too.  The Dwight/Angela relationship has been so deranged, and seeing Angela with a new man (and voiding Dwight’s sexual contract) is a new wrinkle.  It’s been a good month for Coleman – he showed up on House as a patient last week.  We’re totally cool with him doing a World Tour of guest appearances on our favorite shows, but we hope he sticks around in Scranton long enough to have a confrontation with Dwight. Parenthood–We’ve told you many, many times that you need to check out this relationship drama for all the warm and wonderful writing and performances.  Our favorite story lately is the budding relationship between Haddie and Alex, the young man overseeing her volunteer work at a homeless shelter.  Their chemistry is palpable and their story has the potential to be a very sweet one.  Their relationship is moving very slowly, thanks to Alex being a recovering alcoholic who is trying hard to stay clear of romantic entanglements, but something tells us he can only resist Haddie for so long.
