The Best Shows on TV

TV’s Moments of Joy: Zombies, Draculas, and Ghost Monkeys!

Metalocalypse – This week was the season finale of the world’s greatest death metal cartoon, and as with the finales of the previous two seasons, it was freaking awesome.  In an attempt to prove that they didn’t need their manager, Charles Foster Ofdensen, to do everything for them, they accidentally doublebooked a show.  One in Syria, and one in Israel.  Since canceling one show could start World War III, Ofdensen worked overtime to fix things, while the band almost froze to death by accident.  Finally mounting a show on the Israel/Syria border, Dethklok brought peace to the region.  But this concert also initiated the Tribunal’s “Falconback Project”, which has been teased since the beginning of the series.  Most alarmingly, it’s implied at the end that Ofdensen is under Mr. Selatcia’s control, and is working with the last surviving Revengencer, Edgar Jomfru.  Here’s the thing – that probably makes no sense to you if you don’t watch this show.  But if you do, you spend the first three-quarters of the episode laughing and the rest yelling at the TV.  It was amazing.  And if you’re jonesing for more Metalocalypse, check out the Dethklok comic from Dark Horse – the first issue (plotted by series creators Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha) just hit, and it is just about perfect.
