–Hey, it’s the first trip to Nightin Ale’s! We’ll see this location a lot more in the seasons to come. There’s some great stuff here, too For one thing, this is the first real dialogue scene between Doc and Brock – they’ve had scenes together before, but they’ve been very short. This scene gives them some nice interactions, though. And the voice work is great here – James Urbaniak found his groove as Dr. Venture early on, and Patrick Warburton is just killing it with Brock’s casual tone. You have to love Brock banging the stripper that Doc wanted, just because he can. He’s frustrated so he’s going to take it out on anybody he can. And then there’s the explicit connection between sex and violence in Brock’s mind. That’s not exactly new narrative ground, but come on – Brock’s ability to get an erection is directly linked to his ability to kill people. That’s the kind of thing that many writers would try to treat as a clever insight, but they just lay it out here. Finally, this is the second appearance of the Monarch, and the first time that his actions motivate the plot. In the pilot, he’s reacting to Doc’s presence in Mexico. This episode, he’s actively plotting against Doc.
