–We’ve seen the Impossible vehicle before, but it bears repeating – this is almost exactly what the Fantastic Four used to fly around in. The auditioning villains are hilarious – we get to see Mr. Polygamy and the four Mrs. Polygamies. There’s a character based on Apache Chief from Super Friends, who claims that his magic word makes him grow “two, maybe three inches”, but he’s just standing on his toes. Ladyhawk Johnson is a woman who turns into a hawk at night and her partner, Lyndon Bee turns into a bee by day. Obviously they’re based on Lyndon B. Johnson and Ladybird, and both are pretty good caricatures, too. And they’re a reference to the Rutger Hauer film, Ladyhawke. In that movie, a woman became a hawk by night and her lover was a wolf by day. That is a ridiculously well-constructed joke. There’s Fat Chance, who has a dimensional portal inside his stomach. There’s a silent guy in a bloody bear costume who is creepy as hell, even unsettling the villains. And finally there’s Brick Frog. A guy in a frog costume who throws bricks. Hello, new favorite!
