Venture Brothers Dossier – Assisted Suicide – Venture Bro

–OK, 21 and Dr. Mrs. The Monarch are fantastic together.  That just needs to be said before we get into Doc’s head.  It’s pretty clear that the Monarch in Doc’s head is faltering – this can’t be an easy process.  But it’s also interesting that he’s moved on from trying to make Doc hurt himself to simply trying to hurt him emotionally.  And how about those zombie Ventures?  The horde represents every time Hank and Dean have died – every set of clones has a place in Doc’s head.  If you go back and check “Powerless in the Face of Death” and the death montage, you’ll see that every one is in the horde.  Hank and Dean in their hoverbike helmets from when 21 shot them in “Return to Spider-Skull Island”.  The boys in their pajamas from that time they died in their sleep due to a gas leak.  There’s a pair with arrows in their foreheads, from when they tried to shoot apples off of one another’s heads.  There’s even Hank in a Batman costume from when he jumped off the roof with an umbrella.  But think about what that means – every iteration of Hank and Dean is in Doc’s head.  He feels guilty about every one of those deaths.  The fact that he just replaces them whenever they die makes him seem callous, but he’s actually a guy who has watched his sons die 13 times each.  That guilt eats away at him.
