Venture Brothers – Everybody Comes to Hank’s – Venture Bro

Hank and Al return to HankCo, where Sgt. Hatred is now running the diner. Billy Quizboy is waiting for them, trying to remain incognito. He’s got some info, and he’s way into the noir thing. According to Billy, Nikki deals in antiques. All legitimate, but she’s got a line on some really desirable merchandise. Billy gives Hank Nikki’s card and slinks away. Hank decides to pay a visit to Nikki.

–Sgt. Hatred is way too excited to be running a “hash house”. Though he clearly can’t cook, because he’s revised the menu to be “all eggs, mostly scrambled. And all with ketchup.” Billy is really hilarious here, trying to be hard-boiled. It’s spelled out in the next scene, but Billy has long been established as a collector of Rusty Venture merchandise. This whole mystery is really cleverly plotted. Also, I haven’t mentioned this yet, but they seem to have totally done away with the pedophile angle for Sgt. Hatred. Since they don’t usually bail on something for taste issues, as we’ll see shortly, I think this’ll be a plot point later on.
