Orpheus and Al use their powers on the key to read the past. We see a young Nikki, in her Rusty Venture t-shirt, pregnant and crying. Her mother yells at her, and Nikki says she wants to keep the baby. Mom then turns her anger on Doc Venture, for sleeping with a 15-year-old (and the president of his fan club). Doc insists that she claimed to be 20, and she came on to him. He offers to pay whatever they want, and he wants to work it out with Nikki. He hands her a key to the compound, but Mom threatens to call the cops and sends Doc on his way, with the promise that he will write them a very large check. Al and Orpheus are horrified. Dermott’s sister is his mother, and his mother is his grandmother.
