There’s still humor to Jesse’s story, between the way he gets suckered by witless crackheads and rehearses his tough guy lines over and over. (Jesse’s street patois comes entirely from The Wire rather than any actual experience. It’s always hilarious to hear him awkwardly drop slang that he clearly picked up from Avon Barksdale.) But there’s legitimate horror, too. You will not forget the scene with the ATM anytime soon.
