The Most Awesome Thing We Saw Last Week: Farewell, Kuttner
And while the writing is nothing less than fantastic, Paul deserves a lot of credit for the extra dimension he’s given to Jesse. He could have been nothing more than a sidekick, and he would have been hilarious. But Jesse is a legitimately interesting and tragic character. A dumbass who makes most of his own bad luck, but you can’t help but root for. And like Walter While, he’s a guy whose life has spiraled out of control. Also, as we saw this week, he’s a basically decent guy who makes fantastically bad decisions. I don’t know that either he or Walter can salvage their lives, but I’m rooting for him against the overwhelming odds.
