The Most Awesome Thing

The Most Awesome Things We Saw Last Week!: The Bubble (Mar 24)

First, Battlestar Galactica aired two-hour series finale.  And while it would have been impossible to wrap up all of the loose ends without replacing the last episode with a town hall-style Q&A, the finale answered as many questions as possible while still delivering a deeply satisfying story with some great emotional moments and kick-ass action.  And seriously, they actually just crashed Galactica into the Cylon baseship.  Yeah, that’s right.  They drove one giant spaceship straight through another giant spaceship.  And then the shooting started.

Between an absolutely gorgeous speech from occasionally crazy person, Gaius Baltar, a very satisfying comeuppance (by which I mean “neck breaking”) for one particularly deserving malefactor, a whole bunch of heartbreak in the final scenes, and a good old fashioned Mind Screw, Galactica delivered one of the most satisfying finales I’ve ever seen.  In two hours, you’re going to see an insane amount of man vs. robot violence, and then cry at a simple, understated death scene.  For a series that had absolutely no reason to be good, the end result turned out to be fantastic.  Slow clap, Galactica.  Slow clap.
